Bellwork: Hard copy bellwork today. This will be collected for instant points today. Make sure to put your name at the top of the paper. The question on the paper is:
After our experiment in the STEAM lab AND your Ghost Challenge with your team yesterday, you have had some experience with slow shutter speed and motion in a shot.
Turn in your paper THEN vote for the top shot. You are not voting on your hours shots. (We'll look at those together afterwards.)
When you vote, thing about the challenge requirements:
Follow this link to vote. Click on the '1' for your ONE favorite shot and and '2' for your 'no, thank you' shots.
Viewing of class shots and discussion of the process.
Light painting time. We'll watch this 4 minute video together then discuss how we'll play with our new knowledge :)
After our experiment in the STEAM lab AND your Ghost Challenge with your team yesterday, you have had some experience with slow shutter speed and motion in a shot.
- Explain the relationship between motion and slow shutter and what appears in your shot. (What does moving and how fast you move and staying still and time have to do with your final result?)
- How does all of the above relate to your ISO (sensitivity of your sensor) and your aperture?
Turn in your paper THEN vote for the top shot. You are not voting on your hours shots. (We'll look at those together afterwards.)
When you vote, thing about the challenge requirements:
- Uses a 'ghost' in the shot
- Tells a story or message
- Is a well composed, balanced shot.

Bellwork: Title your entry, "Half Press on the Shutter Button"
In your entry, explain two pieces of information you can get from pressing the shutter button down halfway while the data screen (Q) is visible on the camera. (Think about the demonstration yesterday, what happened when I pushed it halfway and then looked at the screen for information to help me decide how long my shutter speed could be for that shot.)
Quick Ghost Challenge Review (Phones with app for shutter speed adjustments are allowed IF a camera is not available.)
You have approximately 40 minutes to shoot your group's best Ghost Challenge shot!
Watch your time! To be safe, try to be back with 15-20 left in the hour in order to edit and email. Take your notes from yesterday with you so you remember tips and settings!
Late submissions will not be accepted. This is an easy 100 point challenge!
HAPPY HAUNTING!

- What if your focal length on your lens is set to 20mm, what shutter speed should you use?
ORIGINALITY - Work that challenges conventions, blurs the boundaries between genres, and shifts notions of how a particular concept or emotion can be expressed. Jurors are encouraged to look for works of art that surprise them and leave a lasting impression
PERSONAL VISION - Work with an authentic and unique point of view and style.
.
TECHNICAL SKILL - Work that uses a technique to advance an original perspective or a personal vision, and show skills being utilized to create something unique, powerful, and innovative. No Photo passes today! I have two new computer assignments for you to complete before you go into any other computer work you need to complete. They are based on Shutter Speed. You'll get your Shutter Speed Practice Shots assignment tomorrow, so make sure you finish these up to be prepared.
Go to edpuzzle.com and log in with your Google Log in. (If you haven't done an edpuzzle yet, our class code to join is biduvre.
Edpuzzle will tell me your progress and score so no need to notify me when finished. (Headphones are in the gray tub on the counter if you need to borrow a pair.)
If you are done with your Shutterspeed and/or your Depth of field questions, are done with all of your photo editing and blog work, then take a look at this. The last two contestants in Top Photographer shoot it out! They are capturing action shots so shutterspeed will definitely be a part of their journey. Can you guess who wins??? Sit back and enjoy! :)

Friday, 11/1/19- No Photography passes today! Everyone is using this time to complete hard copy paper questions, or computer work today. Extra copies of questions and rubrics are on the front table.
Bellwork: CHECK SKYWARD! Use that to direct what you work on today.
You have two choices to get credit today for Photoshop assignments:
For Shot or blog assignments or hard copy question pages, make sure you put your name on it and give it to the guest teacher. ALSO, send me an email. I will be able to check your folder and your blog from home.
As you work today, stay focused and get as far as you can. Hopefully you can finish all editing and blogging on the 11 Elements and can focus on the smaller assignments OR editing on YOUR WORLD shots.
If not, kick it into high gear. We will be moving on to a new project next week!
If you get stuck, ask for help! There are several experts in the room at this point.
Otherwise, I am accessible all day through email (I have the app on my phone and my phone is permanently attached to me so I can get back to you asap) Send me any questions.
THE EXPECTATION IS THAT YOU ARE CREATING ALL HOUR. DO NOT LET OTHER WEBSITES OR YOUR PHONE DISTRACT YOU!

Monday, 10/21/19-3.5 assembly (shortened am hours)
Bellwork: If you have your Chromebook, use it! Then you can bookmark it there....
Here is a free online site that uses .psd (photoshop) files. It is so close to Photoshop in setup and tools that you would be able to figure out how to do the things you need to do from home AND from your Chromebook. I bring it up for those of you that are mostly behind because of Photoshop/weebly assignments.
Exploration of Photopea. Things to try might be:
THIS IS THE LAST DAY TO WORK ON ELEMENTS OF PHOTOGRAPHY SHOTS AND BLOG IN CLASS.
WE MOVE ON TO NEW ASSIGNMENTS TOMORROW. ANY CLASS TIME YOU GET IN THE FUTURE WILL BE BECAUSE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING ELSE DONE AND WHOLE GROUP DISCUSSIONS ARE COMPLETE.
USE YOUR TIME TODAY WISELY!!
USE THE RUBRICS TO GUIDE YOU!!

Friday, 10/18/19
No Bellwork!
You have 20 minutes! Log in and get started right away! The goal was to have all 11 shots edited, loaded into your folder, and renamed by the end of the hour Friday. You also have the added assignment of the blog post with EDITED, WATERMARKED shots in a slideshow ALONG with an artist statement, a total of 160 points. Due to PSAT testing and shortened ½ day hours today, I am willing to push adding zero’s until the end of the day Monday. Use these minutes to the fullest. Make sure you are following the rubrics BEFORE you turn them in for credit!!! Feeling behind? You are welcome to grab some extra lab time before/after school or during A lunch. Did you turn in the Camera Checkout Contract so you can take a camera home? There are extras on the front table. The expectation is that you are working in Photoshop or weebly the entire time for as short as it is. Do not let phones/videos distract you. |

Also, what are some techniques that we've covered so far that you could describe? What did the photographer deliberately do to make this photograph a success?

Today is a work day! But, as I said on Friday, "It's a no photo pass day. You'll need to have your photos ready to be watermarked, edited, and placed in your folder and on your blog page as required per your rubric."
If you were not here on Friday, see me.
Today is the day to wrap up any computer work left from the Found Faces, Distance Shots, and the Viewpoint Shots. It is my plan to start new techniques tomorrow. Use today to its fullest!
Check Skyward! Make sure I have graded what you think you have done. Remember, I don't grade it unless you turn in the rubric/checklist signifying you are done and ready. Zeros go in for missing 'Distance' and 'Viewpoints' this week (They are marked as missing now.) 'Found Faces' zeros went in last weekend.

No Bellwork! It's a work day.
Those that have not seen the Camera Safety demonstration and signed the Contract need to meet with me before anything else. I'll need a camera for that so there will be only 3 available for a while.
YOU HAVE TWO MAJOR GOALS:
Your 1st goal is to have your Found Faces and Distance rubrics turned in by the end of the hour. Zeros go in this weekend for all that are missing. See me to see if I have your rubric if you are not sure.
Your second goal is to have ALL of your Viewpoint shots by the end of the weekend so you have them on Monday to post on your blog.
